Dan Cathy, President and COO of Chick-Fil-A, spoke at our AIA headquarters last week. He said something very profound that I want to pass on to all of you.

But first let me preface it a wee bit. Let’s face it, technology is constantly changing. There’s Facebook to connect with long lost friends (or new ones), Twitter to let people know what you’re up to and the all wonderful blogs to let people know what you’re thinking. Half of the time, I know how to use about 40% of the stuff I would like to do. I get a vision for something, but then get frustrated with technology because I can’t figure out how to make it exactly how I have it pictured in my mind. But then something beautiful happens (like my slide shows) and I am in love. I will forever believe that I will always have a love/hate relationship with technology.

So back to Dan Cathy…He was talking about technology and how it’s constantly changing and we need to keep up with it if we want to be hip and with it (those weren’t his words, but you get the point). In his right hand, he held up his Blackberry and said we need to know what is changing and how it’s changing. Then, from his left pants pocket, he pulled out a small Bible and held it up for all of us to see. He said we also need to know what will never change.

No matter how much technology, the economy or our very lives change, God and His Word will forever remain the same. His promises, His truth and His love. When things get chaotic or we’re overwhelmed or lost, we need only to go back to our one True Constant, our one True Anchor.

Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.
- Hosea 6:3

So in your life, make sure you know what needs to change and what needs to remain.
