This is My Life
A couple of times I’ve caught myself thinking to myself, Wow, this is my life! Last week I was at a track meet with Central State and I was sitting next to one of the guys, watching the pole vault wondering how I got to this place. It’s not at all a bad thing. I love my life right now! I am grateful I get to work with college athletes and do life with them. I get to play a tiny role in someone’s life and I pray that my role is positive and effective.
I’ve also caught myself when I’ve been with AIA people, thinking, This is my family. It’s amazing how many different backgrounds we all bring to the table and how many different futures we will all play out. Yet for this moment, God has brought us all together to live side by side and enjoy life. We had a bonfire and played games last night and I am so thankful to God that He has provided this family away from my family. A group of people with whom I can be transparent with, if I so choose and can grow into the person who God created me to be.
There’s a song by Switchfoot titled This is Your Life and the chorus goes “This is your life…are you who you want to be.” Well, I’m not who I want to be…but I’m getting closer and closer as the years go on. I want to leave a legacy. Not so that people will always remember me (which would be fantastic, but doubtful) but so that people are better off for knowing me and they can then better someone else’s life.
Thank you, gracious Father!
