I’m not really sure why Cindo de Mayo is celebrated. Why can’t we celebrate Trece de Marzo? (March 13!)

Random thought by JT…sorry.

Anywhoo…yesterday was the first softball game of the season. I am playing with my church – Apex. I found out on the website they were looking for people to play and obviously I jumped on the opportunity! We only had one practice before yesterday, so it was interesting to see how it was going to go. They stuck me in right field…I’ve played softball long enough to know what that means, but I got over myself. Apparently the team I’m playing on won their league last year and had to be bumped up, so needless to say, we’re going to face some good competition. Yesterday was no exception. They were good and we were leading a good chunk of the game…until that one inning. It seemed like everyone (including me) just could not put things together. They had 2 outs and yet they still managed to score 9 runs! Ugh! And I lectured myself when I let a ball pass by me (remember, I’m in right field!) But, we did play well overall and I am enjoying my team. My hitting needs some work, although I was 2-3 (although, I’m not sure if you can count an FC). The thing I got going for me is my speed. I can hit little dinky hits and still get on. I need to work on dropping it right outside the infield. If I get on, I can be quite dangerous.

Then I found out my friend was playing a bit after my game and a couple of the guys asked me to join them to be her groupie. I was slightly upset they weren’t my groupies, but then I realized I never asked them to come, so that was all on me (I have been learning over the years that people aren’t mind readers!) I had so much fun with them…first of all, they’re ridiculously hilarious and second of all, Katie had a sweet game! She hit bombs and puts guys to shame…it was sweet! Then I found an old, old bat – the Bomber and of course the guys wanted to hit the field (they’re both former baseball players!) So we hit the field for a mini batting practice.

I sat down to spend a little time with Jesus and break into one of the studies I’m working on – How People Grow. The chapter we’re reading is titled God’s Plan A: People. The gist of it is that we need people in order to grow and the line I came across that made me reflect on last night is that God lives in people, so when we’re surrounded by other people, we’re surrounded by God. God lives within us, but when we’re with more people, we’re with more of God. How awesome is that!?!? I love my brothers and sisters I’m meeting and am so grateful God allows me to be a part of something so big, but that also seeps into the mundane day to day activities. Every day I sit back and am grateful for the life I have and the blessings He has given me.

What are the things you’re grateful for?

Vaya con Dios! [go with God]
