You Better Recognize
SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 60-62; John 1
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. ~ John 1:10
OBSERVATION:
God was walking around on earth for years before He began His ministry, yet no one recognized Him. They probably noticed He was different, but didn’t realize who He really was.
APPLICATION:
I always wonder what I would have done in different time periods and situations. In Nazi Germany, would I have risked my life for the Jews, turned them in, or tried to ignore the situation completely? I know what I should have done, if in that situation and would want to have done, but once faced with the situation, would I actually do it?
In this chapter, would I have been like Andrew, Peter and Philip and sought out Jesus to follow Him? Or would I have been like Nathanael and doubted anything good could come from Nazareth? I will never know what I’d do in historical situations, but I am sure there will be many situations in the future where I will be tested. I want to choose the “Godly” route, but to do that, I need to know what that would be. I need to be so rooted and entwined with the Lord and His Word that to separate us would be extremely difficult – like trying to separate two different colored sands that had been mixed together.
PRAYER:
Father, I want to recognize You, I want to know You. Continue to reveal Yourself to me and forgive me for the times I don’t recognize You.
