SCRIPTURE: Joel 1-3; 2 Timothy 1
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. ~ 2 Timothy 1:6-7

OBSERVATION:
God created each one of us with a purpose. When we accepted Christ in our lives, the Holy Spirit took up residence in our hearts. A tiny spark can set an entire forest on fire. We need to fan that spark God implanted within us to set our lives on fire. With the Spirit within us, we cannot be timid, but with the Spirit, we are able to be powerful, loving and we are able to discipline ourselves.

APPLICATION:
I would get in slumps during this journey I’m currently on. I’d get down, depressed, wondering what the heck I’m doing. Luckily my good friend made me a chart with many verses on it. Second Tim 2:7 is one of those verses. I read over it one day and it’s like I conjured up the Holy Spirit and felt an amazing sense of power, which in turn gave me motivation and the memory of why I’m doing what I’m doing.

PRAYER:
Father, help me to not give in to timidity. I need to remember that the Holy Spirit, within me, is my source of power, love and self-discipline.
