SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 30-31; 1 Chronicles 10; Matthew 12
David was greatly distressed because the men were talking about stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6)

OBSERVATION:
David and his men returned from fighting to Ziklag only to find that while they were gone, the town had been raided. All that belonged to them was gone, including their wives and children. In their despair and sorrow, they blamed David for the outcome.

APPLICATION:
It seems it’s easier to deal with terrible circumstances when we have someone to blame. It someone’s fault. Even if the blame is misplaced, that’s easier to deal with than not knowing why. I blamed God for situations in my life that turned my life upside down. I had someone to project my anger on. But I wonder how differently the years to follow would have been if I was like David and turned toward God to find the strength to move on.

PRAYER:
Thank you for welcoming back with open arms. I pray that when difficult situations in the future come, I turn to You for strength. Amen
