SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 4-6; Romans 8
But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
~ Proverbs 4:19
OBSERVATION:
Proverbs 4 talks a lot about not only embracing wisdom, but cherishing her, because she will keep us on the right path.
APPLICATION:
It’s difficult to walk in darkness, especially in a place that is unfamiliar. We might stub our toe on something. We have no idea what it was, just that it hurt like heck. Sometimes in life our sin blinds us. It could be a defense mechanism – we don’t want to see the truth, we want to ignore it and continue on the way we want to live. Or we’re just in the dark, living life the way we thing we should be living, but because of our lack of wisdom, we don’t understand why we stumble.
I had justifications for some things I did in my past. It wasn’t that bad, or not as bad as that. I ignored, well, more like avoided, God’s teachings to see that it was unhealthy. I could have saved myself from a lot of heartache.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Father God, for Your wisdom. I pray I can stick to it to avoid future stumbles.
