Tree Climbing

SCRIPTURE:
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?”
~ Matthew 9:4
OBSERVATION:
Jesus is speaking to the teachers of the law who are thinking negative thoughts about Jesus, but this question could be asked of many of us. Why is it easier to focus on and believe in the negative things in life? Why do we entertain negative thoughts and make them feel welcome? We prepare a special room in our hearts for them, which makes it difficult to kick them out. It seem sit takes the power of five positive thoughts to destroy just one negative thought. We should focus on the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
APPLICATION:
I’m usually on a roller coaster of emotions, which is quite annoying, especially when I realize I am most often in the low and it’s so easy to come down. It’s like climbing a tree. It’s hard and difficult to maneuver your way to the top, but to come down, all you have to do is fall out…and it hurts.
PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, for the ups i my life and although the lows are hard and difficult, I thank you for them as well, for they make me appreciate the highs so much more. Help me remain focused upwards and on You.
