SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 30-31; Psalm 33; Ephesians 1
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,   ~ Ephesians 1:11

OBSERVATION:
Paul opens his letter to the Ephesians with a painted picture of the Gospel. He is reminding them of God’s grace, mercy and power.

APPLICATION:
God chose us to be a part of a great story – to be a part of something that is greater than we can ever imagine. That could be quite scary. What if we screw up our part? What if we miss the steps? That’s the awesomeness of God. He can use both our good and bad for His purpose. He can take the junk in our life and use it for His glory. It’s like an art student. He’s painting a picture and with one brush stroke, he ruins the entire picture. So he thinks. His teacher then walks up behind him, steps back, takes everything in and with a couple swift, gentle strokes, he turns that mistake into a masterpiece.

Same thing with our lives. We may think it’s ruined, but when we hand it over to God, He can turn it into something beautiful.

PRAYER:
I have made many mistaken brush strokes in my life, Lord, and it amazes me that you have taken each mistake and turned them into the beauty, which I call my life. Thank you.

[...] Jesus is God and if He did not come to earth to be served…one who deserves to be served way more than myself…what does that tell me? I need to serve as well. Jesus is my example. I love my new job, because God has put me in a position where my job is to serve others and just love on them. Yea, it won’t always be rainbows and butterflies, but it is so humbling and satisfying to be able to meet the needs, no matter how big or small, for someone else. Just to be honored by God to be in a position to help someone else. I just hope I don’t screw things up, and heck, even if I do, I know God is greater than that and He is our Master Painter. [...]
