Spiritually Malnourished
SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 20; Isaiah 38-39; Psalm 75; 1 Peter 2
Like newborn babies, crave spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation
~ 1 Peter 2:2
OBSERVATION:
Mothers of newborns are so careful and concerned with what they give their babies. And rightly so, because they need the proper nutrients to grow up strong and healthy. Even as children grow, it’s important they eat the right foods. Even as adults, we too should be careful with what we eat.
It is also important we be careful with the spiritual nutrients we feed our children and ourselves. It is important that what we feed ourselves will help us grow.
APPLICATION:
The pastor at my church did a series titled “Soul Food” and in one of the sermons he mentioned that too often we feed off the spiritual scraps of others - sermons at church, religious books, Christian radio… For so long, I was relying on others to feed me that I was becoming spiritually malnourished. Reading the actual Bible has helped me learn more about God, which has helped me grow spiritually.
PRAYER:
Thank you Lord, for Your Word. So that we no longer need to rely on others to feed us, but that we can feed ourselves as often and as much as we choose.
