Sit, Wait, Watch
SCRIPTURE: Habakkuk 1-3; John 8
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. ~ Habakkuk 2:1
OBSERVATION:
Habakkuk is giving complaints to the Lord about what is going on. After each complaint, the Lord answers. After his second complaint, he says he will station himself and watch for the Lord’s answer. Yet often in our own lives, we do not wait for the Lord. We throw up our complaints and expect an answer stat. When that doesn’t happen, we get impatient and upset. Sometimes we take matters into our own hands. We don’t SIT and WAIT and WATCH. We pace, we get antsy and we miss.
APPLICATION:
How many times have I missed what the Lord has been trying to tell me for my lack of patience? I want things done and I want them now, but that’s not the way God works. I need to sit, wait and watch for what the Lord wants and how He wants things done.
PRAYER:
Father, I don’t always wait for Your reply. Help me grow in my patience for Your plans for my life.
