Sin, Crouching Hidden Tiger
SCRIPTURE:
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. ~ Genesis 4:7
OBSERVATION:
Cain is sulking because the Lord did not look with favor on his offering – the fat portions from some of the first born of his flock. In some of my reading, I’ve learned it may not necessarily have been the actual offering, but the attitude in which it was given that God did not look on with favor. God is warning Cain that sin is waiting to pounce on him, but he has every power to stop it.
APPLICATION:
I love the imagery of sin that is given in this verse. Sin is crouching and waiting to pounce on us at any given moment. However, if we continue to live in harmony with one another, continue to do what the Lord has called us to do, we can rule over that sin.
PRAYER:
Father, thank you for the power to rule over the sin in my life. I pray the steps I take and the decisions I make keep Satan and sins away.
