My Ruby Red Slippers
SCRIPTURE: 2 Samuel 4-5; Psalm 139; Matthew 16
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. ~ Psalm 139:7-10
OBSERVATION:
I think it’s difficult for us mere humans to understand the omnipresence of God. He is everywhere all the time. He is with me, He is with you, He is with people overseas. EVERYWHERE! Sometimes we forget and feel lonely, or feel like we can get away with sin, when no one’s looking. But God is always with us and always sees.
APPLICATION:
It’s easy to feel alone when you feel like no one understands you. I know there are times I long to be where people understand what I’m going through - I long for that comfort and encouragement. I don’t realize that all I need is right with me always. Like Dorothy in Oz and her ruby red slippers. Her ticket home was on her feet the entire journey, she just needed to tap them together. How comforting is it to know that while I am on this journey of support raising and when I get into my ministry, I will never be alone and my source of power will be with me always. I just need to tap into Him.
PRAYER:
Father God, thank you for always being with me through everything. Even during the times I pushed You away, You were always near. Thanks so much for the people You’ve placed in my life who opened my eyes to the fact that my source of power is You and that You are always near. Please use me in other’s lives to show them You are their ruby red slippers and are always with them.
