Me Monster
SCRIPTURE:
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. ~ Acts 4:32, 33-34.
OBSERVATION:
The early believers were just filled with the Holy Spirit. They had something greater than themselves that connected all of them together. They were one, they were united. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and having a focus on Christ, their selfishness diminished. It wasn’t about them. There was no “I” or “me” for them.
APPLICATION:
I think with the economy the way it has become, a lot of people have lost sight of this. We look to take care of ourselves, we make sure we’re secure before we care for others. It’s all about me, my savings, my retirement, my toys, my desires, my, my, my… How different would our world look if we all had the same heart and mindset of these first believers?
PRAYER:
Father, our world is hurting and struggling. We are possessed by the Me Monster and ignore the cries of our brothers and sisters. Give us Your heart, give us Your eyes to see and care for the things as You do.
