Faith in Action
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 7; Psalm 63
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~ Matthew 7:7-8
OBSERVATION:
I love these verses! They imply that God will give us what we need. But I noticed something today. In verse 7, each phrase begins with an action. Each action is something we must do. We can have the faith that God will provide for us, we can pray and praise God, but we also have to put our faith into action. As the phrase goes, “actions speak louder than words,” it too is true here. It’s easy to say we have faith in God and believe He will provide for us, but when we sit and do nothing, we’re not showing our faith. God doesn’t always lay things in our laps. We must act, we must do, we must go.
APPLICATION:
I have been blessed by my Father time after time again. There have been a couple times where He has placed blessings in my lap. However, not all the blessings He has given me have come from me doing nothing. I have worked hard to receive the financial support I have and I am completely aware that without God I would have nothing. Even though there have been times I’ve ignored His prodding or have gone kicking and screaming, when I’ve gone, I’ve seen His blessings. I have been given things I’ve asked for, I’ve found things I’ve been looking for and I’ve seen numerous doors open. But mainly when I have stepped out in faith and put that faith into action.
PRAYER:
Thank You Father for the blessings You give us. Thank you for the promises You have fulfilled time and time again. Thank you for the woman You are creating me to be and I am truly blessed to be called Your chosen child.
