SCRIPTURE: 1 Kings 10-11; 2 Chronicles 9; Romans 6
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter – Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites…As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord, his God, as the heart of David his father had been. ~ 1 Kings 11:1,4
OBSERVATION:
Solomon was a great king – wise, wealthy and admired. But here was his downfall – women. But not just any women, women of different nations who did not worship the Lord. Over time, they affected Solomon and would eventually tear Israel apart.
APPLICATION:
I had dated different guys in college. Nothing was ever serious, but I enjoyed my time with many of them. The majority of them had one thing in common – they weren’t seeking the Lord. When I was with them, my focus shifted from the Lord and I lost sight of some of my values. I realize now how important it is that the guy I date and eventually marry must have his sights set on the Lord.
PRAYER:
Father God, I pray for my husband, whoever he may be. Protect him and guide him into a strong man of faith. Prepare him for our life together.
