Blind Chemistry
SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 6-7; Psalm 135; Romans 4
But will God really dwell on earth with human beings? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I (Solomon) built! ~ 2 Chronicles 6:18
OBSERVATION:
Solomon just finished the temple for the Lord – the place where the Lord is now going to dwell. Solomon has an awesome question, which shows his understanding of the hugeness of God.
APPLICATION:
Many times I minimize God. I keep Him in that temple, caged. But God has dwelled and is dwelling on earth with us. First He sent His Son Jesus to live amongst us – to walk and talk and experience life as a human. When He rose from the dead, He left us the Holy Spirit. he dwells in every human believer. It’s still sometimes difficult to understand. Like chemistry for me. I am a visual learner and that was my excuse for never liking chemistry. I just couldn’t picture these tiny, tiny atoms that make up the world. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe and understand an invisible God, or an invisible Spirit living within me. But Christianity isn’t about seeing then believing like Thomas (John 20:24-29). It’s believing first to some day be able to see. This is faith. This is the essence of who we Christians are.
PRAYER:
God, You are always with me, whether I’m conscious of it or not. All my pain, You feel, all my joy You share, all my struggles, You understand. And through all of this, the root of everything, is Your love.
